Non-Competitive Pathway Guidelines
The non-competitive pathway is a year-round, non-competitive performance and development pathway for classical musicians who want to perform, receive professional adjudication and continue developing their artistry — without rankings or advancement rounds.
How it Works
Submit a Performance
Entry Fee: $70 CAD
Participants may submit:
A movement of a work | A short set of pieces | Excerpts | A complete short work | Other appropriate classical repertoire
Submissions are accepted throughout the year. Each submission includes professional adjudication and written feedback, a certificate of participation, and consideration for performance opportunities.
There is no ranking, competitive score, placement or advancement. Participants are evaluated individually, with feedback focused on their own performance and development.
Who Can Participate
Solo Instruments
Piano • Violin • Viola • Cello • Double Bass
Chamber Groups
Duos, trios, quartets, quintets and small ensembles with piano and/or violin, viola, cello and double bass
There are no age divisions or competitive-level categories in the non-competitive pathway. Participants take part for the performance experience, professional feedback and musical development.
Professional Adjudication
We believe adjudication should help musicians understand both what is working in their performance and where they can continue to grow.
Feedback may address:
Strengths: Musical and technical elements demonstrated successfully.
Development Areas: Specific areas that could benefit from further attention.
Next Steps: Suggestions for continued technical, musical or artistic development.
Recording and Submission Requirements
- Recordings must follow the official recording and submission requirements.
- Submissions must be authentic performances by the registered participant or ensemble and submitted through the designated submission process.
